Deliberate false advertising of promotional products....

On the 26th April 2017, I visited the Giant Hyper store at Cape Gate. I purchased a product Yasmin's Fruit Lollies 400g for R19,99 as advertised on the shelf on promotion. When the product was scanned at the till, it registered as R23,99 instead of the promotional price. I informed the Supervisor whom verified the product on the shelf and mentioned that it is for a different product, however the Yasmin's is out of stock. She informed Mr. Rafiq - Floor Manager about the incident, and informed me that the product is out of stock and customers mistakenly shifted the other 400g Lollies on the promotion shelf. He mentioned that " .....it is our mistake, but there is nothing we can do about it and there is no stock of the Yasmin's 400g". A few minutes later my wife walked to the aisle and found a worker busy stocking the shelf with Yasmin products and removing the other 400g product from the shelf. The matter is not a once off as one week earlier we bought ice cream that was marked on special, however at the till it registered differently. In my opinion this is a deliberate way to get customers to purchase the more expensive products by ambigious advertising.
