Double deposit requested a day before collection
I app**** for a Nissan Single Cab the start of January at the GetWorth Cape Town branch. Finance and everything took about a week as something about my UIF had to be cleared up. After this was cleared and finance approved, I was given a compulsory deposit amount even though I would prefer not to put down a deposit. Vanessa explained to me the bank does not take the extras into consideration when financing the vehicle and that is why the deposit is needed. I was fine with this as the bakkie had a canopy, so it made sense. We arranged with a salesman to come through and take the car for a test-drive. We arrive only to be told by Sameeg the car is out for repairs and he did not check this before booking the appointment. All fine from us – mistakes happen.
We wait another week and we are informed we can come through for a test-drive. I specify that I would like all documents ready because if I was happy with the test-drive, I will be taking the vehicle. Our salesman was busy, and we had to wait indefinitely until we requested that anyone can assist with the test-drive as it did not have to be Sameeg. Test-Drive went fine and we informed the person assisting that the lock on the canopy was faulty. At this stage I was irritated as we were waiting in the waiting room still wanting to finalize the paperwork, but no one was available to assist. We left and they promised to have the lock repaired.
Another week went by with no communication, countless emails sent just for a simple update or to be reassured that the vehicle is still being repaired. They do not have the decency to even answer those. Even emails to Vanessa. I ended up sending the following email and CC’ing all the GetWorth emails I could find and finally got a response. “Good day Is there any update on the vehicle I have app**** and been approved for? I have heard nothing for over a week and a simple progress response, even if the car is still being repaired is only polite and professional. As you can imagine being without a vehicle is very uncomfortable and I would like to get this finalized as soon as possible” Very unprofessional service throughout with the worst still to come.
Finally, I get an email on a Wednesday (02/02/2022) that I can go and collect my vehicle the following Saturday (05/02/2022). Exciting news! I try and make plans only to get a call on Friday morning 04/02/2022 at 08:21 from Vanessa. She states that she is very sorry, but a mistake was made from her side and my deposit must now be double than the initially agreed amount. I am outraged, this is unacceptable to be only realizing a day before collection! I state that I refuse to double the deposit since the initially agreed upon amount was 50% of this new amount. Vanessa apologizes and explains that it seems that the company (GetWorth) has overpaid for this vehicle and now the bank refuses to finance said price of vehicle as they find it overpriced (never-mind the extras now). Well this is not my problem and Vanessa states she will speak to management and see what she can do and phone me back.
She phoned me back one, I missed the call as I was in a meeting. I phoned back a few times and was ignored. Have heard nothing from them since and today, Monday 02/07/2022 the car is back on their website.
DISGUSTING customer service in all aspects of the sale from different departments simultaneously.
