HOSPITAL PLAN ??

With regards to the hospital plan cover, please advise as to what you see as an emergency.

I have always been happy with your services and never had any problems, until I had to make use of the hospital plan. What is the use of paying for something if you can't make use of it.

A week ago, on a Friday night, my 5 year old daughter woke up in the middle of the night, struggling to breath. Not knowing what was going on I rushed her to hospital as no Doctor is open at night. When I arrived at St Georges Hospital, the receptionist called for the guarantee of payment, she was told it is not an emergency as the hospital plan only covers accident related incidents. After numerous phone calls I was told that I can't be found on the system, my policy might have expired, yet I pay a fee every month. I was told that a guarantee of payment will be sent to the hospital (to help me out this one time) but it still does not guarantee that payment will be made. I was informed that she had Croup and needs to go for ex-rays to see whether there is any damage to the lungs, the hospital were advised that it will not be covered, and ex-rays were denied.

How can waking up at night not being able to breath NOT be an emergency, surely she did not make herself sick, and it could not have been foreseen.

I am totally disgraced with the services received with regards to the hospital plan. What is the use of having a hospital plan if you are not able to use it. Emergency in the booklet quotes ' an admission to a hospital emergency unit following an event of a sudden and, at the time, unexpected health condition that requires immediate medical or surgical treatment'. It does not say you have break your neck or be in a car accident to be seen, it states health condition. The hospital plan refers to accident, illness and emergency, not just accident related emergencies as the hospital were told.

Your adverti*****t regarding the hospital plan is misleading and will definitely not recommend it for people with children, where every incident happens unexpectedly and can be any time of day or night.

THIS WAS MY RESPONSE TO THEM

Good day

No cash payments was made, as they did receive the guarantee of payment. I was told that if payment was not made
by Get Savvi for any reason the account will be sent to me. I did not receive any account as yet.

I am not sure who the receptionist spoke to, I know she contacted ER24 and afterwards received a call from a lady stating she
is from Get Savvi and that the hospital plan only covers accident related cases and not medical situations. The guarantee of payment
was received and we were told that it will only be sent to assist us at that moment.

Please advise whether it indeed only covers accident related cases and not medical situations.

Kind Regards

E-MAIL TO THEM AGAIN TODAY....

Dear Madam

With regards to my query.

I received an sms notification from St George’s Hospital on the 9th instant, stating that short payment of R972.25

needs to be settled. Ref No. ********** 214.

Please advise why the account was short paid in the first place, as the casualty cover clearly states a cover of

R5000.00 per insured person, per annum.

Please urgently revert.

Kind Regards
