Deposit refund avoidance

I was given a 30day notice to vacant the Unit I was renting for over 3 years of which I duly obliged. I vacated the unit end of September and requested that the balance of my deposit be transfered into my account. Their accounts department confirmed that I was gonna receive the money within 15days. I sent an email this morning only to be told that I need to ask for my deposit from the owners of the unit as they only took over the lease after I was already signed the lease with the owners . The issue here is that when I renewed my lease I did it with GMA and not the owners. It looks like they just don't want to give my the deposit even though they confirm the unit is sportless with nothing that needs to be fixed. This is totally wrong, I need that money as I had to for a different unit on such a short notice.

Good Day Godfrey,

I hope you are well. Thank you for your review; we appreciate all feedback.

I want to acknowledge that you were a fantastic tenant, and we never had any issues with you.

To clarify, we took over the rentals from the developer and collected rent at the complex on behalf of Inshebe Properties. GMA never received your rental deposit, and therefore, we cannot refund a deposit we did not receive. If we had received your deposit, we would have refunded it without hesitation, as you returned the unit in excellent condition.

I had at the time contacted the developer and escalated the concern regarding this matter. They had admitted that they received your deposit. We (GMA) have always responded promptly and with factual information, and it is unfair to blame GMA for this situation.

We took over the rentals because of the issues you experienced before December 2014. At that time, you were informed that the developer would hold your deposit and not transfer it to us.

We have not ignored you and have done everything we can to assist you.

I am sincerely sorry for the inconvenience. Had we received your deposit, we would have refunded it to you without question. I hope you understand our position and see that we have been helpful throughout this process.

Thank you,

Best regards,
Natacia Lessmann
