Poor service and attitudes
We recently had the misfortune of booking a stay at the Umhlanga Garden court for 10 days through Discovery Vitality.
We were checked in by a reception staff member who had a runny nose and sniffed throughout the checkin. On our first morning at the hotel my daughter's iPhone 6+, earphones and Canon camera charger vanished from our room after breakfast. The hotel was very swift to issue us with a "Without Prejudice" letter on 2 occasions. I have had to claim from my own insurance and now and pay the excess after repeated emails to the hotel have simply been ignored.
Our shower went from cold to hot and back to cold burning us whilst showering. Our neighbour was smoking in his room, this was reported but he continued to smoke in the room next to us and I am asthmatic.
The morning manager we found to be more in the way and a hindrance to all the guests having breakfast as he waddled up and down the aisles clearing without greeting anyone or smiling at anyone.
Every night we were awoken by loud cars, revving and racing up and down the Umhlanga Ridge, this we cannot pin on the hotel but it was very annoying and serves as a heads up to anyone who may be looking at staying at the hotel in future.
All in all it was a horrible experience and we will never return to this hotel or hotel group despite the Vitality discounts we receive.
