Don't Agree to a Government Rate

Basically the Accommodation is fine and up to mark, and so are the in-room facilities, however considering the price tag of R1400 per night , it should be, also considering that the Road Lodge will give you what you need at less than half the price at R645. The bar fridge was a much appreciated bonus and I give the heated pools 5 stars, however I can only give this review 2 stars due to the following: The age-old problem of key-cards malfunctioning at the end of the day is rather annoying and irritating. Battling with a bag in each hand to get to your room door only to find out that you have to go all the way to the reception again to get it recoded is extremely annoying. Initially I was told to keep it away from my cellphone, which I did. Then I was told to keep it away from my wallet. The fact that there is now Bluetooth connectivity in most cars does not help with your key-card problem either. So your key-card is most likely to have its encoding fried by the end of the day much to my dissatisfaction.

However, the most disappointing was your Robben Island / Oliver Twist / Take It or Leave Buffet, confined to a mediocre roast lamb, beef or chicken and some tasteless fish. Let’s not forget you regular as clockwork Chocolate Mousse & Malva Pudding. The in room dining prices are ridiculous with R100 for a burger and chips or R180 for lamb chops. Guys we are in Umhlanga not Dubai. I however, was restricted from ordering room service due to some government rate that was sold to us. But really guys, at R1400 your buffet is so disgusting that by the 3rd day my colleagues and I were so sick of it that we opted to go to the KFC drive-thru up the road.

Your food service really requires urgent attention.

The above review was also posted on tripadvisor on22 June this year. But I have seen that despite my complaints from that time I am still booked at the horrid Government Rate and will be subjected to the nightmare that you call a buffet again for my stay on the 27th - 29th September.
