Beware: there are better POS alternatives out there

Be very careful when signing GAAP'S ludicrously one-sided 5 year contract. Seriously, look at other POS sales alternatives which are cheaper, better and whose legal teams don't threaten you with legal action if you try to look after your own business interests by trying to extricate yourself from their callous talons.

If the GAAP system had been working, I would have been happy to stay with them. But after NUMEROUS failures, often critical, and generally expensive [and you have to pay large call-out fees if you need them to fix their own lumbering, outdated equipment during the weekend - which is when you actually need the system to work] I had to find a better solution.

After finding a cheaper, better, more functional alternative, GAAP informed me that to cancel my ONEROUS 5-year contract would cost me a LOT of money, despite being a good and loyal customer from September 2012!

After literally begging, I managed to negotiate the cancellation fee down a bit - but I can't understand why I should be penalised for moving to a system which simply fulfils my critically necessary business functions. After all, I have been loyally paying through the nose - including all the call-out fees to fix THEIR defective equipment - so they made plenty of money out of me for almost 4 years. AND they came to fetch their lumpy old gear [which is also a complete wire-entangled eye-sore] so why must I continue to be penalised? I have paid my pound of flesh guys! C’mon.

Now, I am being threatened with legal action: "if you don’t settle in full within 10 days, we have no option but to institute legal proceedings ... and list you with Trans Union which will negatively affect your credit ratings" blah blah blah.

Why do you have "no option" but to sue me when, if you had just looked after me in the first place, I would not have been forced to find a stable, reliable alternative? Why should I pay you a penny more for ******* service, defective machinery, clunky, unreliable outdated software and a horrible customer experience? What do I get, besides an expensive shafting?

Buyer beware: don't sign the contract unless you are absolutely sure you want to be inextricably tied a heartless, faceless company who’s only offering is a POS system that looks like it was designed for the set of Conan the Barbarian.
