No joy with Personal Injury Claim

I fell in the store on 7 October 2016. No water, but it seems the floors had just been polished. Staff rushed up to me to make sure I was ok, and they took my details. They told me if there are any doctors bills or anything, I must just send it in for them to pay/do a claim. I was given their name and number to do so.

As I had tried to prevent my fall by grabbing onto the table I was passing, I landed on my knee, ending up flat on the floor. Had I not grabbed at the table, the impact on my knee would have been worse. Turns out later I did strain muscles in my arm and back doing so. My whole body was sore and felt fragile for a good two days.

As my main concern was my knee - I had it checked out with my GP, who was happy it was just soft tissue damage that would heal in time with rest. It is unfortunately my clutch knee for driving, so this is taking some time. I went for 2 physio massages for the sore muscles from compensating for the sore knee, and grabbing onto the table.

On 12 October 2016 I emailed and faxed F&Veg the Doctor's account and his report about my knee. I advised them about the physio sessions that had been booked.

On 18 October 2016 I forwarded the invoice for the two physio sessions and her report.

On 19 October, they advised me that the doctor's bill is fine, but that the physio is seen as therapy, so is not covered! I expressed how unfair this is, because it is all part of the fall, and I would not have needed this treatment if it wasn't for the fall. They advised they would first make certain and get back to me.

I then obtained another report from my GP to mention regarding the physio, hoping this would substatiate sufficiently for the insurance claim. This was sent to them on 21 October 2016 when I also asked for confirmation on the claim, if it had indeed been registered, asking for the claim number and the wording they are basing their response on. I heard nothing...

I have followed up by email on 27 October 2016, but have received NO RESPONSE!

This claim is amounting to far less than R2500, so I don't see the issue. And if the amount is too small for their insurance to claim, then I feel F&Veg should pay it out of their own pocket. I must also mention that I only have hospital cover on my medical aid, so I do not have cover for this type of medical expense - IF that is the reasoning they are declining this matter.

Either way, I deserve feedback and communication, in the very least! Ignoring the matter is NOT going to make it go away. THEY said I must send the bills, so what's the problem now??

Enough is enough - I want answers, and my refund for these expenses.
