Terrible/Usable Line speeds
Okay so this is my struggle with getting fiber (internet) so far.
1st I tried to sign up with Cell C Pre-ordered the fiber line in April already with the sole idea of live streaming to twitch/youtube. After 3 months of not getting any feedback from them, just them saying the fiber is not live in my area yet, which I knew was already live on the 25th June, I start mailing Frogfoot. I find out that Frogfoot never received an order from Cell C. After mailing every manager I could find at Cell C I realized this is waste of my time and I cancelled my order with them. In comes Webafrica. I placed my order and within 25 days I have my fiber. Here I thought my luck has turned around. To my dismay I am getting worse ping on games (300ms to Europe), on a 100mb download/ 100mb upload line. I am barely getting 1.2mb of upload so thus again I am unable to live stream. Which just so that we are clear I explained to the sales consultant that contacted me from Webafrica that this is the SOLE reason I am looking at getting fiber. End of August and still no resolution. The support technicians are telling me its a routing issue, Which I'm sure it is as this only happens from 7pm till 11pm that the line is basically unusable for my needs. The support ticket gets closed and there is no resolution in site.
Now comes the real kicker. I beg Webafrica to fix the problem or I would like to swap to a different ISP as this was not what was promised when I signed up. They reply with "Unfortunately, if you cancel your service you will be liable for clawback cancellation fees: https://www.webafrica.co.za/legal/" Which I understand but the fact of the matter is still that they **** to me when I signed up saying I would have no problem live streaming on a 100/100 line. But I cant swap ISPs if the problem (as per their technician) is only with Webafrica clients in the Burgundy Estate area. So now I am stuck with a basically useless fiber line as it is unusable past 7pm with no resolution in site and basically feel like I am being held hostage as I cant swap ISPs without paying a penalty fee.
I cant help but wonder if I would've gotten better service from Afrihost or MWEB.
I hope somehow this gets to the right people and If you are a Gamer in the Burgundy Estate area and thinking of signing up with Webafrica I would advise high caution as you will not be able to play online at all after 7pm
