Go visit the 737 outside the Clicks at Fourways Mall

I have a love-hate relationship with Fourways Mall. I used to shop there often. Then the construction happened and it became unbearable. Now, I’ve ventured back, partly because it’s close to my child’s school and former workplace, and partly because I drove my parents to get their vaccinations there. It has a good range of the obvious, big retailers, but also some smaller, intriguing ones. The access road over Witkoppen is a huge plus, as I can avoid the taxis on William Nicol/ Fourways Boulevard as well as the horror show that is Cedar Road #WIN. Importantly, whenever I’ve visited, the mall is virtually empty. This is a definite plus in a pandemic. I enjoy walking around – it’s a handy way to get exercise – and I never fail to pay my respects to the 737 that sits, permanently grounded, outside the Clicks. I’ve had one bad experience there recently, when a security guard told me I was not allowed to sit down on a bench (huh?) But apart from that, it’s been generally positive. If you want to wander around a museum documenting the world we took for granted before Covid hit, you could do worse than walk around Fourways Mall.
