<p>I went to Soda bloc on Sunday 23rd October 2016 and when I got there they welcomed me well and the staff was friendly.</p> <p>There were 3 ladies working in the store, Black, White and Coloured and all 3 ladies were friendly.</p> <p>I was then assisted by a black girl and I was comfortable to speak my home language which is Xhosa but I noticed that this girl was responding to everything I'm saying in English.</p> <p>I continued my shopping and kept on speaking Xhosa and she continued responding in English.</p> <p> </p> <p>When I was at the till paying for my things I asked her can't you speaking Xhosa why are you responding to me in English and she said she is not allowed to speak Xhosa in the store. I was so shocked by this because earlier there was a coloured customer that spoke in Afrikaans so I was shocked as to why black customers can't speak their own languages.</p> <p>I requested to speak to a manager and she said the manager is not in there's only a shift runner and that was the white girl. I was not interested in speaking to shift runner because that's just another sales lady given a role.</p> <p>I told the girl that was assisting me that I'm going to lay a complaint about because because a customer should be assisted in a language that they are comfortable speaking.</p> <p>I mean in 2016 you still find place that is undermining black people when we spend our money at the store.</p> <p>I was really disgusted</p>
