R20 for banking details

It has been a while since I bought anything at Foschini, so when I bought a shirt I scheduled a payment to be paid to my account so I don't forget about it during the holiday season. Imagine my surprise, when the payment bounced. By the time I realised that, the due date was passed. I looked to the statement and couldn't find any details (I was looking at it on the phone and the details for bank transfers are very small) as to what the current account number to pay into was. Was very pleased when I received a reminder email with the banking details, but was not impressed with the wording of the SMS. Of course, the banking details were different to the details I used to pay previously, so I paid off the entire amount plus extra R10 for interest. Today I received another emailed statement from Foschini, where that reminder email was charged to my account at R20! Considering it's an automated email whose overall cost is maximum 15-20c this is super greedy. It looks like Foschini and the TGF group make more money out of sending emails and SMSs than their primary business. I honestly don't have the time to deal with a company where I have to dedicate additional time to ensuring I don't get charged a myriad of different charges in case I accidently forgot to pay or as in this case, wasn't notified of the different banking details. So for a balance of R325 I paid almost R30 in interest and various fees, which is approximately 10% of the full amount for the month or 120% per year at this rate. Buying clothing without accounts is definitely cheaper. I paid off everything now and once the amount paid reflects I will close my account after years of having a Foschini card. I have no time for ********* companies.

Absolutely no comment from Foschini. I phoned the call centre to check that everything I paid is reflecting and that I don't owe a cent to Foschini. Then I asked to close the account. The customer care consultant didn't even bother to ask me why.
