Poor quality followed by no customer care.

I made a purchase in March from a Fochini store at Wonderboom junction for glitter shoes for girls, size 12 as a gift for her birthday. Lights and glitter makes the perfect combination, but when she tried on the shoes one shoe did not light up. I contacted the Fochini customer care to ask for assistance. I was told to go back to the branch i bought it from. Again this was a gift. I dont require a refund, only a replacement. The branch did not have the size i require. Again i contacted the Fochini customer care to ask for assistance. I was told to look online to find the store that has the correct size in stock and go exchange it. Why should i find stock and drive to go exchange it? This item was sold to me as good stock, not rejected or as a factory faulted item. Am i required to to take the gift back and get a refund? Besides purchasing an item of poor quality, i am left to find my own solution for the problem.
