No receipt, no return

I sadly had a very negative experience regarding a return at a Foschini store. I had bought the last pair in the range of a gorgeous court shoe. This shoe was bought on sale a month before my brother's wedding as I thought it would be perfect for the special occasion. 20 minutes after the wedding ceremony the heel of one of the shoe's breaks clean off. Note that I was sitting down and had literally just uncrossed my legs and dropped down my feet. 6 people witnessed this and were shocked that the heel of that shoe could break so easily when I had done nothing so extreme to have caused it to break that badly. Nevertheless, I had to take a photo with the happy pair with a broken shoe and then spent the rest of the festivities in an extra pair of size 7 heels a family member had thought to bring along. At this time the store refuses to take the shoes back and credit the account as I do not have a receipt and they cannot go back on their system more than 2 months. Needless to say it's a beautiful shoe that I would love to wear again and I'm disappointed that I am not being accommodated in anyway and that I might be forced to pay out of pocket to fix the heel of a shoe valued at R900, which should have been of a higher expected quality.
