I couldn't exchange unwanted gift

I went to foschini durban west street on Tuesday I wanted to exchange unwanted gift that I got from a friend obviously I didn't have till slip, so I was told that I can't exchange it without till slip really what I need to know is that how does their cpa works I must say I'm not happy at all about their service
