Horrible treatment for laybye at Foschini
Hello Peter,
Today I decided to try out The Foschini Group's Laybye option. I chose Foschini in Fourways Mall because there were a couple of lovely summer clothes I liked and saw on their display. So I thought, why not try it.
I was assisted by 2 ladies who were at the door and who were so nice and helpful when I enquired with them how a laybye works.
The issue was with the lady at the till, Palesa. She was so rude.
After picking out the items I wanted, I arrived at the till and placed the clothing bag on the counter after greeting her. I then told her that these are for laybye. She looked at me and said "Laybye! the laybye system doesn't work well in the afternoon, it's fine in the mornings". I said nothing because I wasn't sure whether she means cannot help me because it's in the afternoon or what? Then she (visibly annoyed) walked over to go collect the laybye bag and irritably told the other cashier at the till "laybye!" with that rolling eyes kind of tone. It didn't end there, she failed to tell me what the items total to so I can do the 10% as I was advised, instead asked me "how much are you paying?" still with that tone, as if I am there to ***** or something. She then pulled out the slip and placed it on the counter without any communication whatsoever. I stood there like an idiot while she pulled a file from the bottom of the counter (I thought maybe I have to sign something in it ...). I had to ask whether we are done and whether this is my copy of the slip....
I think with such a huge brand as Foschini, you can do better. If you don't want customers taking anything on laybye, than take off the signs and advise customers accordingly. The treatment I got from Palesa today was uncalled for. I am paying for those things, she is not giving them to me for free. Even my 12 year old had to ask "why was she so rude" as we walked out the shop. I'm very disappointed.
