********** account opened on my name despite my ID being listed on SAFPS

Foschini needs to close the *****urant account opened without my authorization- Identity theft. On the 25 January 2019 , I received an sms advising me that i need to pay the installment amount of R675 and my balance is R7257 in respect of the account that was opened on the 28 December 2018. This is very disturbing to me because I did I open an account at Foschini nor do I shop at Foschini.

Furtheremore My ID number is registered with SAFPS as I have previously been a victim of identity *****. So I fail to understand as to how this person was able to open accounts in my name when my ID is registered at SAFPS and Foschini is a member of SAFPS? Retailers get an alert every time someone tries to open an account in my name. The laws of South Africa require companies to thouraghly verify documents provided by customers before approving any accounts.

I also phoned SAFPS and they advised that there was either and inside job or lack of due diligence by Foschini employee who allowed the account to be opened by the *********, as they were supposed to run my ID number and it would have shown that my number is listed for previous identity *****. That would have required them to do detailed checks before opening the account. I am going to take legal action if my account is not closed as soon as possible as this will have negative rating on credit burea.

The other thing is I have already faxed the an affidavitand the dispute the form at Foschini - Carlton Centre. The SAPS did not allow me to open a case as they say I need application form that was completed by the pepetrator when the ********** account was opened.
