FINRITE - underhanded approach ******ion (Edgars Mobile Insurance)

We're disputing the quality of their workmanship on a LCD replacement for a Samsung S6 earlier this year. After receiving the phone back after 1st repair, the 'virtually indestructible Gorilla 3 glass LCD cracked when my brother tapped on the screen in an attempt to get the phone to respond on the same day that he received it back. Bad workmanship meant that he most of the screen/phone functionality that comes with the phone when it's purchased. We assume that the 1st repair was done with non authentic Samsung parts - a cheap and underhanded business decision by Finrite. The 1st repair did also not go via Quality Control.

We sent the phone back to Finrite the next day showing the Edgars representative the poor quality of repairs. The phone also did no longer have AMOLED technology (a key reason for purchasing the phone in the first place) and the original cover was replaced with a cheap knock-off.

Finrite then did the 2nd repair on the LCD. Due to their stock issues we could no longer have the phone in the Navy Blue colour and we had little choice but to accept the only available option which was gold.

The 2nd repair was done much better and passed quality control, however, even though we paid R500 excess prior to the 1st repair, Finrite has now added an additional R1000 excess insisting that the 1st repair was done correctly (although it was never checked by QC).

We were not informed of additional charges at any point until we tried to collect the phone after the 2nd repair. We did not sign or accept any additional fees as this was supposed to be done under the 3 month warranty on repairs done and was communicated that way.

Frankly, my assumption is that Finrite thought that they would get away with replacing parts with cheap, knock off parts and after our complaint about bad workmanship, they had to replace the LCD with the authentic Samsung part and that cost them more than R2000 and they are penalising us for this....they cannot give us and reason for repair 1 not passing QC or why the Gorilla 3 glass could be damaged by a finger pressing on it.

To date, Finrite is insisting on the additional R1000 access but cannot provide me with any documentation or recorded calls showing that they made an attempt to notify us of the additional R1000 fee and they won't release the mobile device either. It's deliberate ****************!

I was denied a report on the underwriter's investigation and how he/she got to the conclusion that we're liable for their lack of quality repairs.

This is an EDCON chosen partner, providing mobile insurance. I have however seen that they are also partnered with Foschini and Telkom.
