Bye to Hi

Imagine buying a R5500 cellphone at Hi Canal Walk just before going on leave over a long weekend and to be billed for it twice. Hi says they only have the transaction reflecting once on their system and there's nothing they can do, except escalate it to their merchandising department AFTER the long weekend. Not acceptable. They unhelpfully said the double charge should reverse by itself after a couple of days. Well, it didn't. I had to increase my credit card limit to get through the weekend. Now I had to waste time logging a dispute with the bank (I grew tired of calling Hi and leaving messages). I'm thinking if you double bill someone for R5500 you need to be able to fix it right there and then. Not tell them how sorry you are that you've just accidentally maxed their credit card and left them with no money for their holiday.

Reviewer Update
Update: Hi Canal Walk contacted me 6 days after the purchase to confirm that they have in fact double-billed me. They offered cash and I had to go back to the store. Once at the store, I managed to convince them that I would far prefer a credit card reversal, which was completed, with the money finally reflecting back in my account now (9 days after purchase). There was no offer from them to compensate me for the inconvenience, wasted time and cost of dealing with this incident.
