Appalling Service even after one year 7 months of avoiding that store
I visited Foschini Clearwater Mall after one year, 7 months after I sworn not to visit that store again due to the type of service they offer. Unfortunately for me I’m heading to Cape Town tonight, I had to do some last minute shopping and I know for a fact that Foschini has what I want. Clearwater Mall is the nearest mall for me and I did get an outfit which I am happy about.
I went to the cashiers and I was assisted by a lady by the name Nokuthula as per the receipt. I greeted her, I’m not sure if she responded, I only heard her directing me on which side to stand as I pay. I put my items on the counter. I take off my store card and placed it on the counter as I’m waiting for her to ask me whether I’m paying by account or cash. She took the my foschini card off the counter and swiped it, continued to scan my items. Gave me a receipt to sign and gave me my parcel and I left.
How is that good customer service? What if I wanted to pay my account first or after I made my purchase? I know it’s not a personality contest that we want to make friends with your staff but great customer service and making a client comfortable is paramount to both the business and the customer. I don’t know if in that store you trained your staff to size people up. If in your induction process that’s what you teach them, kindly let the general public know what the standards are to be a TFG client. The rest of us who do not fit the criteria, can pay off our accounts and close them. Shopping at that store is not a great experience and from someone who has worked in the retail space, I know how customer experience is very important. It is disheartening to still find the same service after such a long time avoiding that store. It goes to show that our complaints are landing on deaf ears.
