I went into Foschini Waterfront, just like I have been shopping there the whole week, on the afternoon of 17th February 2024. I was even wearing Foschini clothes because I prefer the formal wear. I wanted to purchase a lipstick. I went to lipstic section and asked the Coloured lady to help me with a wipe so I can test the lipstic. She told me I can test on my skin on my hand, to which I responded, I put lipstic on my lips not my hand and need to see how it looks on my lips. She refused telling me I can't test that way, that I'm not allowed and she will report me. I went around the display and saw some tissue papers,I reached to grap one to wipe the lipstick and she arrogantly grabbed it from me with reckless abandon and said they are her. I felt so humiliated and one fell down to which I pivked and continue testing, telling her is the first time I experienced that at Foschini since I started aholping at Foschini for 14 years. My friend came to hoin me and asked what happened. The Coloured lady tried to tell her too that she's not allowed to test and as we continue trying to seek understanding and maybe speak to Supervisor, another employee called Lucky told me andy friend we are making noise in the shop amd disturbing his White clients while to shop. We were not even making noise. He immediately told us we will be thrown out of the shop and he called the mall security on us for that purpose. That caused us a lot of embarrassed as we are also business people and should any of my client walked in there it was going to be highly regrettable. I asked to speak to supervisor again but was told they are on lunch break. That's when we left the store with such shame and no apology nor help was offered because we are too Black to have proper shopping experience at Foschini Waterftont.
