I am a stylist, image consultant and personal shopper with over 25 years experience working in Wellington, Australia, South America and Europe. I take clients into Forever New many many times and I have purchased hundreds and thousands dollars worth of your merchandise. I have a huge client base in Wellington at the moment. Yesterday, I took an old client into Forever New and I have never experienced what I experienced, and am compelled to write to you and complain about the shop assistant's attitude and comments. My client is 40 years old, petite and size 6. Arguably she has the best figure of any of my clients and it is a joy to shop for her. She comes from a family who also are my clients who have a tendency to have body dismorphia thinking they are larger than they actually are, and they rely on me for all their shopping. I had a little problem from the start with this assistant who did not respect the fact that I was in actual fact the expert. I asked if she could bring us a little denim jacket and she brought a size 10. I asked for the 6, and she told me that "it would be too small" ! After two attempts at getting the 6, which was the right size, she still argued with me that it was too tight, which it wasn't . All that did not faze me. What was the real problem was that when my client tried on the denim jumpsuit skirt, and I saw her, she was beaming and she loved it. The assistant, without us actually wanting her opinion, came and peaked through the curtain and said " I am going to have to be brutally honest, and tell you that your hips look massive in that" I was gobsmacked!!! Word for word, that is what she said to my client. I was in such shock, all I could muster was a " I disagree" when inside I was screaming, thinking all that work over the years I had done, with my client had gone down the drain. Firstly, she absolutely DID NOT look big by any stretch of the imagination, hell, she is a petite size 6 for heaven's sake!! But the unforgivable is what she said. Even if someone does not look their best in a given style, there are ways that are not cruel and rude to say. You need to train your assistants better. You should sack this girl. It is unforgivable what she has done. Of course she did not buy that jumpsuit, and I had to take her out of there asap and do damage control. I am so livid that I would like to supercharge this post, but I will not, as I expect you to take this seriously and show some action as soon as is possible. I did not get the girls name unfortunately. She has long dark hair, and was wearing a distressed denim jacket yesterday, around lunch time.
