Zero integrity

found my car being towed to this shop for a free quote according to the tow truck driver, upon arriving at the shop the mechanic established that he was unable to see a fault just by looking and said that they would need to do a 'strip and quote' i then asked what that entails where i was told that the strip and quote is R2500 but that i don't have to pay it up front and that it will basically come out of the quoted price to fix the car so lets say the quote will be R5000 then the R2500 will be taken off the R5000, so i said "ok" to that thinking if that's the way it works it's not too bad. i got a phone call from the staff to buy a 5 litre oil so they can throw it in the car to start the engine to see where the leak is from so i have to pay extra to make the mechanics job easy as if finding a blown out oil pressure sensor at the bottom of the engine is not easy enough.I got a phone call back 5 minutes later telling me it was just a "miscommunication". 1 Hour later i received the quote, the strip and quote was completely separate i asked about that and I was told that that it was a separate thing, now to be honest if i was told from the start that it would have cost me R2500 to find a little oil leak i would have NEVER dropped my car off there i was also quoted for 4 hours of labor.

I asked about the 4 hours of labor and why its so high where i was then told the following over the phone - " the job is quite extensive, the front end of the engine will need to be stripped also the pulleys on the side in order to replace the sensor and the wire because we are not just going to cut the wire" i then said "ok" give me an hour i will swing by and the mechanic can show me what needs to be done. I arrived at the shop my car was on the lift where the mechanic quickly showed me the pressure sensor that was faulty, I then asked him to show me the work that needs to be done that i was just so extensively told over the phone where he was at best flabbergasted and said its just the sensor "plug and play" so why quote me for 4 hours for something that takes 15 minutes to do, We then proceeded back to the office and I told them to amend the quote where it was amended to 2 hours and I still said it's ********* to quote for work that is not done where I was then told "If you don't like it you can take your car". Very convenient for the shop to tell me that after all the lies and deceit to get me to drop the car off the lowbed in the first place. After hanging around the staff not knowing how to handle the situation after getting caught with their lies I finally got it amended to 1 hour. I paid the quote because quite frankly i just wanted my car out of that place because they have no integrity after pulling that stunt.

Its a shame because by the look of the reviews i was not the first but hopefully i can help someone to not make the same mistake by reviewing their shady tactics
