Help24 Gearbox & Diff/Flora Auto Clinic And Discovery - Insurance and Fixing Gone Awry

What started out as a pleasant and professional experience when it all began. I had taken my car there for a clutch replacement on the recommendation of Discovery Insure*. The clutch was replaced and I sang both Discovery and AutoClinic praises. A day or two later the car felt hard and giving issues getting into Gear2 (mark this!). I called/messaged and we kept missing each other and I told them in a WhatsApp message about every question I had including that they should give me the old clutch. I later went to fetch it and they explained something or another that to an ordinary untrained ear didnt make much sense. I left at that though. 2 days later my wife got stuck with the car excatly due to gear2 not working, I then towed to Auto and told them we had done a clutch and things had not been Ok despite my initial singing praises. They flatly denied it has to do with the clutch. OK, I then asked for a diagnostic (at a prmium R2.5K!!) and they have just quoted me R22K! With a third (Over R7K!) being .. you guessed it...fixing 2nd Gear! I rest my case. Meanwhile, Discovery said they will review the recording but that they do not recommend repair centres! I am waiting for the call to this day!

Only time will tell - I'll be speaking to Auto-Clinic tomorrow (Tue 18 Feb) and will hear from Discovery later.

*Discovery Insure had been very good througout my double car tragedy as they swiftly arranged towing twice and minimized costs. But they too are now pleading ignorance and innocence on thier recommendation!
