Joining was the worst decision ever

I joined in 2009 and spent thousands while not using any of the services. All I received was threats involving lawyers and even had the sheriff at my door. I made the decision to join based on affordability, according to the consultant, and as stated in the contract, yearly fees and levies would be about R700. However these fees increased exponentially year on year and was definitely not affordable. I have been trying to cancel for years but was told that I need to sell the points to someone else, a task which I've had no joy with. After spending lots of money on this and not receiving anything in return, I just want to cut my losses and get out of this but it seems impossible.
