Change dates declined.

Good day

We have made the reservations at First group oceanic in Durban with my friends, the reservations is made for the 29th of January to 2nd of February 2021. On their policy it has stated that the reservations is non-refundable but it doesn't state that we can't change the dates, we also called the hotel to confirm if we can change the dates if something come up and they said yes we can. So now that we want to change the dates because of the pandemic they say we can't change it and that means we going to loose our money.
