Fines prescribe after 18 months.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has instructed that all outstanding traffic fines issued, should be cancelled after 18 months if no summons have been issued, in terms of the ******** Procedure Act.

20 Apr 2021, 09:23Hi Basil, trust well, the fines outstanding on our system all have summonses issued within 18 months so are valid, the summonses can be served any time after 18 months. I hope that this clarifies how the system works. Regards, Fines SA

20 Apr 2021, 09:39If summons in an action be not served within 12 months of the date of its issue or, having been served, the plaintiff has not within that time after service taken further steps in the prosecution of the action, the summons shall lapse.

10 Jun 2021, 11:49Hi Basil, trust well. We receive the live data from the various Municipality and relevant service providers. They advise that if the warrant has been issued before the 18 months then the fine is still valid and owing. Regards Fines SA
