Bad unprofessional service

I app**** for a loan with Finbond and received a pre-approved offer. I contacted Finbond to ask why I specifically had to go into a branch. I wanted to know whether I could simply send the required documents via email and, if I was 100% approved, then go into a branch to complete the process.

I had previously been the victim of an armed *******, during which, among other things, my cellphone was ******. From the very beginning, I also informed the consultant telephonically that I was aware that there was an MTN account registered in my name. This was the very MTN cellphone that had been ******.

At the time, I opened a police case and provided MTN with the police statement, requesting that the contract be terminated. The police statement was also emailed to MTN. Despite this, the account was still listed as “bad debt” and remains against my name. What makes the situation even worse is that I had also taken out insurance with MTN when I entered into the contract.

This is where my problem comes in.

I nevertheless decided to go to Finbond to apply for the loan. During my initial telephone conversation, the lady I spoke to told me that the loan would definitely be approved, although the amount and repayment period might differ. However, I was unfortunately required to visit one of their branches.

I therefore went to the Finbond branch in Bellville. Sisanta assisted me, but I found her extremely rude and unhelpful. Her manager, Annett, was even worse. The entire experience was extremely unpleasant.

I am honestly not as upset about the fact that the loan was ultimately not approved. What really concerns me is the way customers are treated at their branches, as well as the way I was treated when dealing with their complaints department. I spoke to two people there, one of whom was a lady named Vanessa.

It is no wonder that Finbond receives such poor ratings on HelloPeter, with a one-star rating. Perhaps Finbond needs to start teaching their staff something as basic as humanity, empathy and respect for customers.

Unfortunately, I cannot give less than one star when submitting this review. If I could, I would give them minus 100 stars.

The service I received, both telephonically and at the branch, was extremely unprofessional. I was also made to feel humiliated at the branch.

This was not about simply being disappointed because my loan was declined. It was about the complete lack of professionalism, empathy and respect shown towards me as a customer. No customer should be made to feel humiliated simply because they are asking for assistance.
