Extremely disappointed with FEM's Handling of My Claim

I am extremely disappointed with the way FEM has handled my claim and, in particular, the lack of communication. The father of my child passed away in a workplace accident on 24 October 2024. I have gone through the processes required of me, including providing the necessary documentation, paternity/court documentation, DNA testing and social-worker involvement. FEM received all the required documents by May 2026. Despite this, I have been following up for an update since June 2026. I have repeatedly contacted FEM asking for feedback, but getting a clear response has been extremely difficult. I was eventually informed in July that there had been an update on the claim and that it would be explained once the claim was finalised. I continued following up afterwards, including on 22 July and again on 29 July, but my emails were not properly answered. What makes this particularly upsetting is that this claim involves financial support for a child who lost her father. I understand that claims have processes and that some matters may take time, but having all the required documentation since May and still having to repeatedly chase for basic communication is unacceptable. At this point, I simply want clear answers: What is the current status of the claim? Why was the claim reopened? Is anything still outstanding from my side? What is causing the continued delay? When can I realistically expect the claim to be finalised? I have been patient and have followed every process requested of me. I should not have to repeatedly send emails just to receive basic feedback about a claim that has already been outstanding for such a long time. I hope FEM will use this opportunity to provide a proper response and finally bring clarity to this matter.

Formal Complaint – Outstanding Refund Payment (Reference 215601)

Dear FEM Management, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the continued delay in the payment of the refund due to COMPASS PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT (PTY) LTD under refund reference 215601. On 8 May 2026, we provided all information requested by FEM to enable the final assessment and policy cancellation process. Subsequently, FEM confirmed that the policy had been cancelled effective from the end of February 2026 due to a company merger. On 29 May 2026, we were informed that the refund request had been submitted and was awaiting approval. Thereafter, on 18 June 2026, FEM advised that the refund was in its final stage and would be released once approval had been obtained. Despite these assurances, no payment has been received and no definitive payment date has been provided. To date, more than seven weeks have elapsed since all required information was submitted, and over a month has passed since FEM first advised that the refund was awaiting approval. We find the continued delay unacceptable, particularly as no reasons for the delay or expected payment timeframe have been communicated. We therefore request the following as a matter of urgency: Confirmation of the final approved refund amount. Confirmation that all internal approvals have been completed. The reason for the excessive delay in processing the refund. A firm payment date by which the refund will be paid into our account. Should this matter not be resolved promptly, we will have no alternative but to escalate the complaint to the appropriate FEM management channels for urgent intervention. We trust that this matter will receive your immediate attention and look forward to receiving confirmation of payment without further delay. Kind regards, Edward Abrahams Accountant

Very bad service

Irritated! I submitted my doctor's notes on the 24th of April, only for the consultant to tell me that the Documents were not received. I had to take ask her to check her mails. Only then could she open my documents. It was the 4th of May when I called to confirm but that was the day she said she's submitting my payment request. I called in yesterday on just to verify if it has been done seeing that Emails are not really taken seriously. I was then told that my payment request was only captured yesterday. I have doctor's room to visit. Remember, I got injured at work, which was not even my negligence but the company's. Having to struggle this much with payment is part of pain and suffering. I need payment to be made before my Doctor's appointment.

FEMA USELESS

I am so sorry I have to give them a STAR. This is the most frustrating company to work with. Now patient want to know from us why we do not want to work with them after they contact you to help. Well, THEY DO NOT WORK. They have so many excuses to not pay out a claim. Shame I feel sorry for them. I know exactly how they make money. They take all the monthly contributions from members and then do not pay for any claims. If I did my work like your company do, I WILL BE FIRED. Hope you close your doors verry soon you are worthless.
