Wrongfully blacklisted

In March 2016 I cancelled my Fedhealth Medical Aid (South Africa) as my permit has expired. I left the country to go renew my permit in my home country as per SA immigration regulations. I came back in May 2016. I received a final notice from Fedhealth indicating that I had an outstanding amount and was to be blacklisted if I did not settle by the 1st of June. I assumed Fedhealth might have tried to contact me whilst I was out of the country to inform me of the debt. However I did not receive any such information. I made contact with a Fedhealth representative who told me that if I rejoined, the amount I owed will be paid from the new account's savings. Thus I rejoined. My Husband made contact (on 25 May 2016) with Fedhealth to this effect. They told him that the primary account holder (myself) had to make contact to have the debt removed or absorbed by the new account. I contacted Fedhealth (on the 26th of May 2016) and they said they will resolve the matter and that I will not be blacklisted since I had made contact with them.

In early June 2016, I received an SMS indicating that I was now blacklisted. I contacted Fedhealth to complain and was told that my request (for the debt to be absorbed by the new medical aid account) was not processed or it was lost in the system or was never actioned (the call's reference number is 090616qt0ngs).

This is very problematic, disheartening and disappointing as Fedhealth has failed to offer a customer service. As a customer who did all they could to avoid being blacklisted, ended up being blacklisted, not because it was my fault, but due to a failure on Fedhealth's part to act professionally and responsibly.

Fedhealth needs to act to remove my name on the ITC as the outsatnding amount has been settled and was settled before the due date they had given me.
