WHY IS MIRENA NOT COVERED

I am on a low hospital plan, Maxima Entryzone, which has wonderful benefits for a hospital plan, but why does Fedhealth not cover the Mirena or other IUD devices on all their plans. I cannot use the pill for personal problems and because of osteoporosis in my family I have reached the end of the line with Depo, so my Gyni has given me two options, Mirena (which costs R2500 just for the unit) or hysteroscopic essure sterilization. Which I would rather prefer the Mirena, but on my plan they only cover oral contraceptives. <br> <br> Then why does the plan only cover one papsmeer every 3 years. I think when a woman reaches a certain age they should allow you to go every year, especially if you have had kids.
