Utterly disappointed at service received from Fedhealth
I am utterly disappointed and disgusted by the treatment I have received from Fedhealth.
On 28 September 2026, I visited my GP after being brutally assaulted and was referred for a CT scan at Netcare Mulbarton Hospital, where I was expected to pay a ridiculous R4,300 co-payment. The scan revealed a fractured orbital floor, requiring urgent hospital admission and surgery.
Fedhealth authorised my admission, and I underwent surgery on 29 September 2026. Shockingly, only after surgery did I receive an SMS advising that my surgeon was not part of their network. Why was this not communicated when my admission was authorised?
I have since received an outstanding surgeon's bill of R17,982.03, which Fedhealth has declined to cover.
This was a medical emergency, not an elective procedure I could postpone. Was I expected to delay urgent treatment while searching for a network surgeon?
I am recovering from a traumatic assault, yet Fedhealth has added financial stress to my suffering. I regret joining this medical scheme. Members deserve compassion, transparency and support during emergencies, not unexpected bills and disappointment.
Fedhealth, please urgently reconsider this decision.
