Skin Cancer is scary enough without your Medical Aid putting you through additional hell.

A month ago I started the process to get authorisation from Fedhealth to have cancerous growths removed. A month later, after letters of recommendation from 2 plastic surgeons, histology reports and 2 sets of images, I am still waiting. The first time I app**** for hospital authorisation they came back with a co-payment of R6800 and refused to cover the hospital. I then found a new surgeon at an “approved” hospital and went through the whole process again. Now 5 days later I’m still waiting for authorisation. 6 calls to the call centre with the same excuse - waiting to a team leader to override the codes - whatever that means. This is a PRESCRIBED MINIMUM BENEFIT Fedhealth - I am not just a number, I am a paying customer with a very scary condition. Please step up and do what’s required!
