Refusing to pay for a yearly Mammogram

I am extremely disappointed in Fedhealth. I have been on the scheme for approximately 8 years. This year I was told by my Doctor that due to my age i needed to have a yearly mammogram. I am 47 and this is my first mammogram. Fedhealth is refusing to pay for this, they paid R60-00 odd towards it and I am liable for the rest of the bill, just over R1000.00. This is completely unacceptable. According to Fedheath they only pay for a yearly mammogram from the age of 50 - 74. Really? Fedhealth you seriously need to look at the internal policies that enable you to shirk your responsibilities as a Health insurer. Every Doctor you speak to will tell you that 40 is the age that woman need to start being tested for breast cancer. <br> <br> I pay R4000-00 per month to Fedhealth and they are not prepared to foot this bill?? Not impressed.
