(RATED ZERO!!!) Pathetic and Conniving System for Cancellation of Policy
Please see my previous review on why Fedhealth is the most abominable medical scheme available.
However, they decided to take their pathetic service one step further today with me in regards to cancellation. So, as promised on my recorded call with the membership department, here is my second review:
I contacted Fedhealth multiple times, (upon having no success in resolving my issues), on my last few calls I requested with all (2-3) consultants that they have someone contact me to process a cancellation. No one was in contact and only on my last attempt was I informed that I need to email Fedhealth for cancellation. I emailed my cancellation request (with the stipulated 1-months notice period) on 10/02/2021, right after being informed to do so. Still no contact from membership.
The following week I contacted Fedhealth again requesting a call back for this cancellation, I was advised by the consultant that the cancellation has been received and that I should receive a call shortly. Still no contact from membership.
Today (22/02/2021) I contacted Fedhealth AGAIN regarding my cancellation. The consultant had me on hold for upwards of 10 minutes, eventually informing me that he is UNABLE to speak to membership. He also stated that the cancellation was not done according to their system, and that I am still considered an active member to date. I made it very clear that a note must be done on my profile saying that if I don't receive contact for cancellation I will take it further.
Amazingly, not 3 minutes after the call ended I finally received a call from the membership department. Unsurprisingly, the consultant first tried to convince me not to cancel. Clearly indicating that this cancellation was not being processed as they anticipated to convince me otherwise, despite my written request. As mentioned above I have already put in my 1-month notice (12 days ago; 10/02/2021) and informed him that there is absolutely NO WAY I will change my mind.
He then accepted that I would be cancelling and declared that my membership would be cancelled 31/03/2021, with 1-month notice being noted as 28/02/2021, despite the fact that I had contacted Fedhealth myself requesting this cancellation MANY times prior to the 10th, ultimately putting it in writing on that day. Now because FEDHEALTH didn't contact me, they disregard the 1-month notice period.
The membership consultant did inform me today that I "missed the cancellation period" for February, which was the reason for cancellation only happening in March. Here is why that is nonsense:
- Not a single person at Fedhealth that I dealt with prior to this for cancellation informed me of a cancellation cut-off date. In fact, I was told on one call that in order for it to be acknowledged it just needed to be put in writing for 1-month notice. -Fedhealth's 2021 membership guide DOES NOT stipulate a cancellation date within the month by which a member needs to cancel by. There is no written clarification on this (or even on a notice period).
Due to this, as well as simple ethics, my cancellation request should not be processed based on when Fedhealth deems it appropriate to contact me - but when I actually put it in writing to cancel.
In the end Fedhealth refuses to cancel my membership until end of the next month (exactly 49 days after my actual notice of cancellation)
Fedhealth I am so glad you record your calls as you always inform me, and I will take this further if I am debited for the month of March (even though I do not want cover for that month due to cancellation) due to your useless and conniving system, and ********* "cancellation shut-off date" that members are not informed of legally.
So ultimately you didn't actually solve my problem in this review - all you did was fix the new problem that you created when contacting me regarding the review.
According to the Council for Medical Services, who I am now dealing with on this matter, as long as I am giving the appropriate cancellation period, I am legally allowed to cancel any date within the month.
Still unsure of why I am paying for a month that I will have no coverage for (i.e. March)? Even more unsure of why you claim to record my calls when today the person who contacted me stated that there is no record of me ever reaching out to Fedhealth prior to the 10th. Covering up something?
