Optometry limit
I was shocked when I went to get a doctor's prescription and was informed I no longer had funds. On enquiry with my medical aid I was informed that my funds were exhausted by my yearly supply of contact lenses. I further requested that the matter be escalated as there should be a provision for my optometry. My provision is up to R182 per annum something that I was not initially informed of. Obviously with that amount one cannot even get a frame let alone pay for a lens. I am really disgruntled by the way my medical aid claims to provide the best medical aid but fails to cater for even the smallest of things. The medical aid should set aside a portion for optometry and not exhaust my savings in the name of providing a better service. I can consult with my medical aid but will not be able to get my prescriptions. What good is it for me to consult if my medical aid wont pay for the meds prescribed by my doctor?
