Option upgrade: Beware the T’s, C’s and nightmarish delays
I am beyond frustrated with Fedhealth. I’ve had my policy for 6+ years at this point and never claimed for anything (all my gp visits were paid from my left over savings I had before they started this stupid vault business). I recently found out I am pregnant. As per their policy which they love to tout as a “benefit”, I phoned them to request that they move my policy to a different plan. Nowhere in my policy documents does it state any of the nonsense of a time limit (Which I’m still well within), authorization needing to be obtained from management after they’ve “reviewed” my request or the back and forth nonsense that I need to provide a motivational letter and proof of my life changing event. On the chat feature I’m advised by Abby that I need quantitative tests to prove my pregnancy. Annoying, but fine so I go to the gp. Surprise surprise I need to pay them cash for the blood tests and claim it back from Fedhealth. FedHealth deducts R37 from the payment stating they don’t cover the ppe (mask) used by the dr. During corona? what bull**** is this? Is it my fault they need to wear a mask?? This is a medical aid, surely they understand that? So I submit my option change request together with blood test results, now it’s still a problem as it appears as though Fedhealth are doing enquiries with my dr to find out when she diagnosed me. They have the ****** dr’s invoice and blood tests which all reflect the 21/22 August 2020, so what nonsense is this?? Now it’s a back and forth between me, my dr and this excuse dor a medical aid. This is pathetic and I sorely regret ever moving over from Discovery to them. The call centre agents have zero product knowledge and I’ve asked Thembile Miya 3x to keep me updated, which clearly seems like too much effort. I need to go see a gynecologist but it’s impossible with these people holding everything up. If I had a terminal illness I’d be dead waiting for them to “authorize” what was promised. This is not in line with TCF guidelines!!!
