Operation Account Nightmare
<p>I went on to the Locator to find a DSP for my operation. Could find one so phoned Fedhealth. They sent a letter with - wit for it - kidney specialists to me instead of ENT specialists.. I phoned again and was referred to a Dr. Long, 33 Van Riebeek Road, Kuilsriver. When I phoned for appointment doctor had moved to Constantia 18 months ago. Now out of sheer desperation I went to the ENT guy next door who had to operate the fillowing week. I phoned for authorisation and was told because he was not on their list - I would have to pay in... I disputed this (strongly) as I had already done everything by the book and it was THEIR staff who pointed me in the wrong direction. When I queried what they would pay the doctor it was less than half his account!!! I specifically said to the man at the call centre that NO money must be taken from our savings account - and I would try and negotiate with the surgeon. What hapens? Get a Statememt from 'Family taking care of Family' - WHAT A JOKE!!!!! - last Friday - saying that of R12723 of doctor's account - only R6170 was being paid by Fedhealth - rest from our savings... So here we are - two OAP's - paying Fedhealth over R5600.00 a month - and now have R200.00 left for the rest of the entire year - another 8 months with no cover (but oh yes, let's not forget they will still be taking our +R5600.00 a month.... FEDHEALTH - you are the most disgusting and uncaring Medical Aid in the country - and I would like to hear what you are going to do about this debacle.</p>

How long does it take for Fedhealth to acknowledge that they have taken over R6000.00 of our savings (against our VERY explicit instructions!) and left us with absolutely no savings for the next 8 months..... Please return the money into our savings account today, then send me a statement by email - and let me sort out your mess myself. You could have resolved this on the day I reported it......

Having totally given us the run-around since day one of me looking for a DSP in ENT - and having been sent to Kidney specialists, an ENT guy who does not exist and MANY emails to Fedhealth begging to be sent to one of THEIR DSP's - now I was told yesterday (3 weeks AFTER MY OPERATION) that there was one one in Bellville which is just along the road from us. NOT ONCE!!!!! were my husband and I told about this - so Fedhealth made the *****-up - but now WE are being told to pay well over R6000 to the guy who did my operation. Play fair Fedhealth - we did EVERYTHING BY THE BOOK - BY YOUR RULES - you messed up - not us..... Pay the doctor's account for heaven's sake - do the moral thing......

Re the above - the woman who phoned me to suggest I see an ENT specialist in Bellville (local) - AFTER my operation - she said she could do no further for me so she suggested I contact the CEO of Fedhealth, which I duly did - along with copies of ALL relevant correspondence.... (AND THERE WERE PLENTY E-MAILS - ALL OF WHICH WERE IGNORED BY FEDHEALTH) - blatently clear that Fedhealth made errors from day one of my search for an ENT specialist - not me!!! I eventually was contacted by RYAN of the CEO's office, who bluntly told me to pay up over R5000 that was still due to the doctor and which Fedhealth were refusing to pay. He had the audacity to slam the phone down on me - how is that for Customer Service..... ??!! I have subsequently paid the doctor in cash - and never again will allow myself or my husband to be duped by Fedhealth and their 'family' - they are just a bunch of ****** who don't know how to conduct a business... imagine - sending me to a kidney specialist when I was looking for an ENT specialist - words fail me.........
