No service when in need
I'm Zanli and I've been with FedHealth now for almost 4 years, ***. I have a serious issue for the first time in 4 years and FH refused to pay anything for my operation. My 4 wisdom teeth need to be removed and FH covers nothing. I'm a low-income earner that now needs to come up with 30kplus to get pop done while I have a medical aid. The specialist has sent a letter telling the medical aid this is an emergency operation that needs to be done asap. I really feel badly treated with no one giving you advice or help to what I need to do, it's just "declined". I've been in extrema pain for the last 2 weeks. This is the doctor's feedback- Teeth are symptomatic with pain and inflammation due to peri-coronitis (Abscess formation) bottom teeth. Symptoms of pain also as direct result of teeth, pressing against adjacent teeth! Due to the local anatomy, surgical access is only possible to this area under general anaesthesia.
This is an emergency procedure! Notes sent above, stated, Peri-Coronitis! Pain and Inflammation!!

13 Nov 2022, 16:52Just an update, an FH rep called me after my complaint. she was helpful and explained my current plan doesn't cover this emergency operation. I'm still confused on why my current plan doesn't cover this emergency operation as my DR. said any DR. that reads his motivation for the operation will know this is not cosmetic but a crucial operation that needs to be done asap to prevent me from landing in the ER, but any case. Her advice to me was to upgrade my plan then they will cover the operation I must have urgently. I completed the paper work to upgrade my medical plan with FH, they will now get back to me tomorrow (Monday) by 4 o'clock to let me know if its successful. I was in contact with the specialist and he said I must let him know as soon as it is approved to schedule the operation. I'm in a lot of pain but at least we are getting some where. Will update tomorrow after I get feedback from FH.

Sadly today I got the bad news that FH refuses to pay any portion of my operation and this is after they contacted me and told me to upgrade my medical aid then they will pay for the operation. After 4 years of paying for a medical aid I now have to go to a state hospital for this operation, I never thought this will happen to me its extremely sad. I've been sitting with infection and pain like you wont understand but they just don't CARE. They don't even come back and say look we can cover this or that or we will cover 60% or what ever, no its just DECLINED! I couldn't even afford a medical aid as my salary is just over 5K a month but i thought its important and I have to get one just for incase, I never missed 1 payment I never paid late bit this is how they treat you. I will go to a state hospital or look into other options I WILL cancel with FH and for the rest of my life I will let everyone know how I was treated in my time of need by FH. These big companies don't care about their clients cos there is always another fool out there who's money they can take and not supply a service.
