Medical Schemes are out to make money only....

ISSUE: Medical aids inability to process a claim (I am still waiting 3 months down the line without any clear indication of why this is taking so long or why this is an issue). No communication has been received up to date.

My daughter is disabled. Yes, there are lots of disabled children, but unfortunately for me and the rest of the parents struggling to look after all of the medical needs of disabled children, THERE IS NO COMPREHENSIVE MEDICAL AID FOR DISABLED CHILDREN and Fedhealth is as bad as the rest.

This is supposed to be a simple process. I phoned to find out if I have benefits available. I was told yes and given the amount. We proceed with her evaluation and measuring for a very important part of her life - a standing frame. The manufacturers of the standing frame send the invoice and it gets rejected. Why? Following up on this outcome has been a nightmare. I have reference numbers for calls that can pave a whole road. It is pathetic. There's an appliance benefit available. A standing frame is an appliance. We are now in month 3 going into month 4 and still, we have no answer.

The medical aid does this because they either want parents to give up on what their children need and not claim for it or one end up getting the money somehow to pay for the item needed.

Just a note to you Fedhealth... you are making my life difficult in claiming for one item my child needs. let me inform you that there are multiple items she needs as part of her life and majority of those I save for and pay out of my own pocket because a money making scheme like yours is more focused on how they can make money than assisting parents with children with real and severe disabilities. I know that I have to save money and pay for the things my daughter need from the get-go because I know that the so-called Medical aid scheme will not pay for what she needs.

What a joke. And unfortunately, there is no way to go because all of the Medical aids are the same. Just focused on making money.... the rich Directors and Shareholders living a life of luxury should hang their heads in shame. They are not human at all.
