LOUSY SERVICE, DIRE CONSEQUENCES

We work abroad and have to get authorization for an advance supply of chronic medication three times a year. This is always tricky as we are only two weeks at a time in South Africa - and the authorization process (supposedly) takes two weeks. And we still have to make appointments and get scripts from our doctor first... We submitted an application on 1 August 2018 (with all the necessary documentation such as scripts, flight tickets, details of pharmacy where pills will be collected, etc. attached) asking to collect the pills on 15 August as the departure date is 16 August. When no feedback had been received by 13 August, we started making inquiries. A promise was then made that the request would be escalated. The short of a very long story is that after numerous (costly!) phone calls, online chats, promises of 'within the next ten minutes' on the way to the airport NOTHING happened. The pharmacy couldn't deliver the medication as they hadn't receive any authorization, and unfortunately the plane didn't want to wait for Fedhealth. I am now at my work place (in a remote part of West Africa) without my medication, and there is no way of getting it without someone bringing it for me. Courier services do not deliver medication across state borders... What a truly awful experience and stressful situation.
