Lack of transparency is deeply concerning

"Run by members for members, we’re a scheme governed with a completely transparent approach where every member is important."

This is an extract from the "About Fedhealth" section of the Fedhealth website.

However, there is currently something seriously wrong within Fedhealth. The scheme rules state that valid claims will be paid within 30 days of receipt. My GP , who is a network provider, that I have been to since joining Fedhealth, have submitted three claims for routine consultations, in January, February and March 2018. As it stands, Fedhealth is currently in breach of their own scheme rules, since they have failed to pay the three consultations, providing an error code that the item is not covered by the scheme. My benefit option guarantees unlimited GP consultations, even when my savings are exhausted (and my savings are not exhausted as yet).

When querying the non-payment, I have been told that it is due to "a technical glitch that is being dealt with internally" with the turn around time being indefinite (Fedchat enquiry on 10 April 2018).

It is deeply concerning that a) this kind of error is persisting for so long, and b) that Fedhealth is not being transparent with its members. The members of the scheme have a right to be informed of what is going on, especially since this "technical glitch" has been present for 6 months now, and is having serious negative financial consequences on members. If I have to pay my doctor myself, how long will it take Fedhealth to refund me this money?

After numerous enquires, from both myself, and my doctor, this problem is still not resolved. As a result, I will be submitting a complaint to the Council for Medical Schemes, as well as re-evaluating my continued membership of Fedhealth.

Drastic action and honest, open communication with members, is now urgently required.

I can be contacted on the email address that you have for me.
