INEFFICIENT STAFF, FALSE AND CONTRADICTING INFORMATION AND TERRIBLE SERVICE
About a month ago, my dependent had to have a knee procedure. I contacted Fedhealth abiut their preferred network of orthopedic surgeons and 2 names were given. One of them told us they had no affiliation to Fedhealth and the other had retired 3 years ago. I had to contact Fedhealth to inform them of this During all the enquiries back and forth, a customer care agent told us that his Supervisor said that we can see a general surgeon and gave us a further network list and we contacted 1 of them for an appointment. They advised that they cannot do such a procedure. After Fedhealth sending numerous updates on the agreement between them and the 1st surgeon (which was none of our business anyway), we decided to go with another surgeon as we could not wait for Fedhealth to finalise their internal issues with the surgeon. We were told by a customer care agent that a R2600 co-payment was due at time of operation. The pre-admission dept at the hospital was told the same amount by another agent. Fedhealth then changed their mind and a day before the operation, we heard that it was now R4600. The response to pre-admission dept was that the agent was wrong and they were sorry. I have not checked with them why another agent told me the same thing. Besides not having an updated preferred network list and having surgeons on there that retired years ago and Supervisors giving false information about going to general surgeons for the procedure, they are changing co-payments at will.. at a stage, I was told that a Supervisor would be handling my case (Amore Meyer is the person now communicating with me) but there has been no finalisation of this issue up to now. I am still waiting for an updated list of surgeons and for them to sort out their internal issues and still have no answers. We pay R7200 a month for 2 people for med aid. Think twice before you join Fedhealth
