How Fedhealth treats their 16 year loyal customers.
I have been a member (with 2 dependents) for 16 years but then left my employer where I received medical aid as an allowance (which means the medical aid membership would be terminated by default when leaving the company). I left my previous employer end of March 2020.
So I decided to stay with FedHealth as a member but in my own capacity. However, I could not afford the current option/plan (FlexiFed4) and wanted to go onto FlexiFed3 Elect for financial reasons.
So I contacted the scheme call center and they advised me that they only allow "downgrade" between Oct and Nov unless approved by management in special circumstances and having received a motivation from myself.
I then sent my motivation to the scheme management for approval but received no feedback from them. After contacting the call center again, they indicated that my motivation was not approved and only offered me a temporary option change for 3 months due to COVID-19. (Which was not an option for me since I will eventually be paying the Flexifed4 premium after the 3 months which I simply cannot afford)
After more than a month of going back and forth by simply trying to go onto FlexiFed3 Elect, I requested that they terminate my membership since it's a nightmare and they don't seem to understand.
Up to now (12 May 2020), I have not been able to change my option and I have also not received any feedback regarding my termination.
This is how Fedhealth treats their loyal customers. Pathetic bunch.

After posting my initial complaint last week, a Fedhealth agent called me in like 10min after I made the post/complaint. I thought is was to good to be true.
Anyway, the agent called me to advise me that the option downgrade due to covid-19 would be permanent if I do not opt to upgrade again after 3 months. This suited my needs and again, I submitted the form to Fedhealth to downgrade to Flexifed3 (replying on the email from the agent).
So yesterday, my wife went to get some medication for my child, only to find out that I no longer have any medical aid.
So will you %$&*(ing useless bunch of greed idiots sitting at Fedhealth (that still earning a %&*^$ing salary), please pay back my R63 000 that is still in my medical savings so that I can pay for my child's medication.
You can expect a call from the ombudsman and my legal representative soon.
