As a single male it is becoming increasingly hard to justify the subsidy of maternity benefits of others. I live a healthy lifestyle and have been contributing more than R2000 to the scheme for many years. My current premium is R2545 for the most basic comprehensive package. In fact I have always had a comprehensive medical aid since I had my first real job. Yet! When I enquired about a cheaper option. One more suitable to a single young man with no prospects of children, I was informed that I would have to apply for approval! Furthermore, even if I was allowed to downgrade (after approval, in November!) I would still have to sacrifice significant benefits and still subsidise anything pertaining to human breeding. I simply can't afford to subsidise other people's drive to further overpopulate the earth. Even though I am extremely loyal to my medical scheme I can not tolerate this measure of gender **************.
