Fedhealth takes your money and then ignores you

No responses since 2018, unless you contact Council of Medical Schemes. I have now been waiting 22 days for reimbur*****t of surgery bills. I had to take a loan to pay as a private patient, while paying membership fees, turns out, my operation was authorized and they forgot to add it to the system, so told me it was declined. They told me ‘osteoarthritis is a scheme rule’ but told CMS, it wasn’t loaded by accident. They sent me an email saying they can’t get through to Olivedale clinic, but took me 5 minutes to get the information they needed. They also told me all covered for a neck operation in January. I checked with them and the clinic every day for 5 days before my surgery, after having my quotations approved. They didn’t cover my Covid test or in hospital blood tests, or in hospital (pre authorized) physiotherapy. No hospital copayment. 30 minutes out of surgery, in recovery ICU, the clinic called to demand R22k that Fedhealth is now not covering. They hope you’ll give up and go away. As I’ve mentioned before to them, I’m not giving up or going away. I have paid more out of pocket and in contributions than Fedhealth has paid out. They were quick to reimburse me out of savings and demanded the money back when I cancelled. My doctor added me to chronic medication end of 2018 and they have never covered it. Trust me - sign up with Fedhealth and expect bills if at least R15k after any surgery, even when they approve beforehand. 2018, 2020 and 2022 - I found out after all authorized (excepting the one that they forgot to load onto the system), I was now liable for more than I could afford. They have contributed to my financial ruin and I can no longer afford to have myself or my 72 year old mother on medical aid. We’re told medical aid is a necessity, but all the contributions and out of pocket expenses that my plan should have covered, could have meant adequate medical care as a cash patient. Since I started paying cash for my monthly meds instead of through medical aid (who never covered them anyway), I get them for R500 less. I used to pay R1200 for my monthly meds - I now pay R700. Query everything - although they will ignore you and avoid you at every turn. Persist. It’s your hard earned money and your health. For them it’s the bottom line. Get them to see us as people and not numbers. I wonder how well their staff members are taken care of to spread positive reviews. Because as a client, I have been taken for a ride.
