Fedhealth lack of service

I have been enrolled in a medical aid scheme for the past 30 years. During this time, there have been two instances of the scheme undergoing buyouts. Surprisingly, Fedhealth seems to lack any record of our previous history, treating us as if we were new clients. When I inquired about membership fees by contacting their call center, I was provided with the contact details of a broker, whom I had no knowledge of because the call agent was either unable or not permitted to offer advice on our existing coverage.

The contact numbers given were ineffective; one was non-existent, and the other belonged to Medscheme, which redirected my call back to Fedhealth. Although the third agent was helpful, our issue is still unresolved.

In addition to these challenges, Fedhealth introduced a Medivault scheme, which necessitates members to take out a loan for day-to-day benefits, incurring an extra cost added to the monthly premium. Essentially, the substantial monthly premium paid contributes nothing to daily benefits. Moreover, an out-of-pocket payment of an additional R30k is required to reach the threshold before all benefits kick in. This raises the question of how an average earner in South Africa can afford medical aid under these circumstances.

Their absence of service and empathy towards their members is glaringly non-existent.
