Fedhealth dragging their heels, adding to our suffering

Fedhealth Ref#: 160718QX85FP ( MEMBER NO: ********** 8604)

My mother passed away on 9 Apr 2018. She was visiting me (her son) in Howick when she suffered a cardiac arrest. She was rushed in emergency by ambulance to Pietermaritzburg Medi-clinic, where she passed away four agonizing days later.

Fedhealth have chronically short paid the various specialists involved, claiming that they are not Designated Service Providers (DSP's). However the surgeons sent Fedhealth a letter of motivation pointing out that Fedhealth is legally obliged to pay the account in full, as it was an emergency PMB situation. We too wrote a letter explaining what happened. There was no time to find a DSP. My mother was rushed to the nearest specialist heart Intensive Care unit!

Now four months have passed, and despite my families' constant attempts to rectify this matter with Fedhealth, they are still dragging their heels. They tell us that the matter is 'under review'. But the doctors are threatening to hand us over to their legal departments if payment is not received.

Fedhealth are legally obliged to pay for this PMB condition, which - as it sadly turned out - was fatal.

We have lost our dear mother. We need closure on this matter so that we can get on with our lives.

Fedhealth, do the right thing! Pay this money and let us be done with it.

Thank you so much Linda and Johan for your caring responses. Fortunately this matter was finally resolved by the able attention of Mbali Mazibuko at Fedhealth. She personally saw to it that every last claim was correctly paid. My family and I are all greatly thankful to her for finally sorting this out. After five months of phone calls, emails, and frustration, it is a great load off our chests. Thanks to you all.
