Fedhealth Does Not Pay
My 78 year old mother has been a Fedhealth client for 3 years. We were sold a hospital plan with assurances that all in-hospital procedures and treatments would be covered. She has never made a single claim since joining Fedhealth, being active, fit and healthy. She now needs a hip operation as per orthopedic surgeons instruction. (So in my understanding, not elective). She is in a great deal of pain and mobility is severely impaired. Fedhealth have declined authorization outright. Communication from Fedhealth side has been very poor and frustrating. Consultants and call centre agents are brilliant at fobbing the client off with technical jargon and frustrating processes. The usual insurance company modus operandi of frustrating dropped calls and specialized industry codes, jargon and jumping-through-hoops processes...anything to avoid paying out. Very quick to sell policies and take old people's money, but not friendly or helpful when it comes to paying out. She was told she could pay R170 000 to get the procedure done, or join another medical aid. So, as a Fedhealth client with a hospital plan, this 78 year old lady's only other option is to have the procedure done at a government hospital! Beyond pathetic!
I expect I will receive the usual generic response, "we are sorry to hear that you are having such a bad experience....". We have had spadefuls of your rhetoric and it is nauseating. Just cut out all the false advertising and nonsense and honour your commitments to your clients.
