I am very disappointed that I joined the medical aid.

This is my story:

I was deceived by the broker. I was looking for quote for hospital plan for me and my wife. I specifically asked in the conversation "can we go to private hospital if something happens" the answer was YES. 2 months after we signed up for Fedhealth's savvy plan, we find out then my wife is expecting. They request all the documents of the tests etc. I've already sent them documents. I immediately start chatting on whatsapp with Fedhealth agents and only then to find out but the plan I'm on doesn't cover Mediclinic Worcester Western Cape, I'll have to drive 135km for the nearest hospital that covers for us. Fedhealth give me a option to go on other plan (FED2) to get benefits from maternity and to be covered in hospitaI i than switch to Fed2 plan to cover my wife for pregnancy and also in hospitals that fall under the network of fedhealth. The fed2 plan is approved by Fedhealth for us but the amount is too much for me per month. I can't pay R7157 per month for us.

I then requested that Fedhealth to do Main member swop so that she could keep benefits and take me off the medical aid for now. The swop of main membership is DECLINE (no reason was provided). I start chatting with agents on whatsapp and start asking what i can do, because it's stressful for me. I was then given the option to terminate my plan then reapply for my wife on the Fed2 plan. I ask the agents if the benefits are going to stay the same and that there won't be a waiting period if I quit and reapply for my wife. Because I don't change from Medical Aid just to higher plan. The agent then said to me yes the plan goes on as per normal because the fed2 has been approved by the medical aid. I've been struggling to sort it out for weeks. Yesterday 17/09/2025 I received a call from Fedhealth to say if I terminate and reapply again for my wife on Fed2 they may not cover and there will then be underwriting and waiting period. I'm so terrified and stressed because where am i going to get R7157 per month, I wanted to cancel Medical Aid, because all departments is telling me different story. other medical aids aren't going to cover my wife now because we already expecting. i told them aswell if there is a waiting period of 1month just for my wife for Fed2 and take me off the plan i will except that. we up and down for a whole week, the agents on whatsapp say things are not going to change and benefits remain the same. Then another department says something else. All 3 departments I've talked telling me different thing. It's so frustrating.

Here I'm going to spend almost 1700 on gynecologist because the stuff isn't sorted out. if i had the option to cancel the plan i would`ve done it ASAP.
